Get a FREE MERV-13 filter insert to make your cloth face mask(s) safer

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is now urging everyone to wear cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies). This can slow the spread of the virus and help people who may unknowingly have the virus from transmitting it to others. These masks can be made with common materials from around your home.

Important: Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.

Cloth face masks do not offer a lot of protection. However, by adding a full-size pocket or ‘kangaroo pouch’ to a cloth face mask, MERV 13 filter material can be inserted into the pouch to provide greater protection. This is because MERV-13 filter material is rated to capture anything in the air down to 0.3 – 1.0 micron in size.
